From 11-22 October the fourth and final Ultrasound module was conducted at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Nairobi.
The 21 participants to this module reported in time on Monday morning.
Professor Michael Kawooya from Kampala in Uganda was present for 2 days as a guest lecturer. Professor Kawooya, Radiologist, Professor and holder of a Phd degree, is very experienced in Ultrasound and has done a lot of research in this field. His lectures included topics on Tropical Infections, Advanced fetal anomalies, Multiple pregnancies and HIV / TB in relation to Ultrasound. In his own humorous and professional way Professor Kawooya delivered quality lectures.
The other topics during this module were small parts ultrasound (breast, testis and thyroid), pathology of the uterus and ovaries, physics of Doppler and hands-on sessions on abdominal scanning and obstetric scaning.
In the second week the students wrote their final exams. Two practical exams were done (one on abdominal scanning and the second on obstetric scanning). The final written exam consisted of 140 Mutiple Choice Questions, a compilation of all 4 modules. From each of the first 3 modules 20 MCQ’s were randomly selected and Module 4 was covered with 80 MCQ’s.
